Espumillas

Espumillas are a popular Ecuadorian street food, the word espumilla means foam. These delicious guava meringue cream desserts are made with fruit pulp, typically guava o guayaba, egg whites and sugar. It’s very common to find street vendors selling espumillas at the exit of most schools in Ecuador. You can also find them outside of the fruit markets in many cities and at most main plazas on the weekends or holidays.

Had the BEST EXPERIENCE today at Ecuadorian Slice! I went in with my family (over 15 of us!) and we were served quickly and with smiles! The food and the drinks were all DELICIOUS, especially the espumillas dessert! Highly recommend this beautiful reataurant and the espumillas, it definitely my top favorites desserts I ever tried!

Espumillas look like ice-cream and are sold in ice cream cones. The most common flavor for espumillas that is eaten her in 'Ecuadorian Slice' is guava, which we call guayaba in Ecuador. But, we can also make them with other fruits such as banana, strawberry, mora or blackberry, naranjilla, passion fruit, etc. Overall all of the different flavors of espumillas are delicious and are amazing to try.

Espumillas are served garnished with an Ecuadorian blackberry syrup called arrope de mora, as well as some sprinkles or coconut flakes. This dessert is done everyday with fresh fruits to give our guest the most amazing tasting espumillas making you feel like you are in Ecuador. When we give our guest this dessert they are surprsed that it isn't an icecream because they way it looks makes it look like you are about to eat an ice cream. But this is way better than eating ice cream in a cone, we recommend everyone to try espumilla.
